Endocarditis
Important take away points made by Marcus Blackburn, who presented on February 17, were:
- Blood cultures should be obtained prior to antibiotic therapy if possible. Blood culture-negative endocarditis in a reference center: etiologic diagnosis of 348 cases.
- Multiple blood cultures should be performed over time. New criteria for diagnosis of infective endocarditis: utilization of specific echocardiographic findings. Duke Endocarditis Service.
